The next-gen Porsche Macan and the first-ever Audi Q6 will ride on a new dedicated BEV platform called Premium Platform Electric (PPE) or ‘PPE-Architektur’ in German. Co-developed by Porsche and Audi, the PPE will underpin several other models for the two brands including the A6 e-tron and the next-gen Porsche Cayenne.

Audi says that the PPE platform is similar to the MEB but compared to it, PPE allows greater performance parameters with higher output. A rear-mounted electric motor is standard, while high-end configurations can get a second electric motor (PSM or ASM) at the front axle for eAWD. Unlike the MEB, the PPE has a system voltage of 800 volts and can allow the vehicle to charge at a peak power of 350 kW, Audi had revealed in October 2019.

In its annual report for 2020 released in March, Audi revealed that the PPE platform-based models would deliver a range of up to 600 km (WLTP) and support a maximum charging speed of 270 kW.

PPE platform underpinning the Audi Q6 e-tron means availability in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations, with the latter featuring an additional motor mounted at the front. A peak charging power of 250-350 kW should allow fast-charging to 80% in just around 20 minutes. High-performance models could do the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint in about 4 seconds.
